Virtual Meeting: BCPA February General meeting

Are We Headed for a Polycrisis?  Being Ready for What Happens Next

Speaker: Regina Phelps

A what?! A polycrisis occurs when present and future risks interact with each other to form a compounded crisis. Simply said, a polycrisis a cluster of related global risks with such compounding effects, the overall impact exceeds the sum of each part.

Think about it: we have simultaneous and overlapping crises all around the globe. We have been facing infectious diseases, wars with major impacts beyond their borders, supply chain disruptions, gun violence and mass shootings, natural disasters, catastrophic cyberattacks, democratic dysfunction, a healthcare crisis, and much, much more.

How do we as BCM professionals develop programs and processes that can meet the daily onslaught of potential crises? What do we need to have in place today to ensure we are able to meet the moment? How do we continue to provide value to the organization every single day? There are four critical things all programs must have in place to be ready for whatever comes next. Attend this general session presentation to ensure you and your team can meet the moment.

Topics covered:

  • Situational awareness – Essential to be able to meet the moment.
  • Incident assessment – The process, plan and team you need.
  • Crisis teams – Tactical and strategic teams to provide essential direction.
  • Exercises and training to ensure crisis readiness.
